Hi Folks,

Today I get to keep two promises. First I get to tell you about how I became a writer, and second I can finally show you the cover for Blue Rider. On to my story.

I have always loved stories, writing them, reading them, writing songs, etc. All that got put on the back burner when I reached adulthood. I married young, had a young family, and ... well, you know how that all goes. When you have children it is hard to hold on to the little things.

Check-in and Book Review

All right, here we are, getting down with round two.  This is going to be fun, as I believe I have set the goals within reach and still allowed myself a bit of breathing room. So, how am I doing so far? Let’s find out.

1.      Blog twice each week over and above my ROW80 check-ins

So far, so good. I posted yesterday and here I am checking in. Life is good.

2.      Continue to read and comment on the blogs of my fellow writers

I have read and commented on 16 blogs in the past three days.

3.      Write at least 2K words on a WIP each week

So far I’m just over 900 words and I have all week to get the rest. Looks good from here.

4.      I set out to publish six novels this year. I managed three last round, and two more between rounds, so that leaves me with one more novel to publish. I will see if I can get it out this round.

I’ve got one first draft almost ready for the editor.

5.      Read and review two or more first novels by new writers this round

Last weekend I read Time’s Enemy by Jennette Marie Powell. I really recommend you read this book. It is a great tale of time travel and the consequences of messing with the past. Jennette is a fine writer with a master’s touch at keeping up the tension. (You have to remember to breathe)

Time’s Enemy is Jennette’s first novel, or so I believe. This bodes well for the future for she will surely get better and, I for one, can’t wait for more adventures of Charlotte and Tony. You can get Time’s Enemy here:

6.      Publish two or more short works (between five and twenty five thousand words)

I have one story at the edit stage now and will soon need a cover for it.

ROW80 Sign-up

Hi folks, it’s time to declare for the next ROW80 round. I had planned a lot for this, but Life seems to be slowing my down a bit. Ah well, it’s a sure sign of Spring. Over all I was pretty successful with the goals I set for myself last time. Perhaps now is the time to pull back, just a teensy bit.

Ok, here are the goals for ROW80, Round 2.

1.      Blog twice each week over and above my ROW80 check-ins

3.      Write at least 2K words on a WIP each week

Well, there they are, another six goals for this round. Should be easy, right?

ROW80 Check-in #13

It’s check-in time again. Where does the week go? Anyway, it’s been a week of ups and down, but I’ll get to that in a minute. First, the goals:

ROW80 Check-in #12 Plus Odds and Sods

I know it is late in the day, but it is still Sunday so I’m not technically late. Last night we went to a friend’s birthday party and watched as her partner got down on one knee, proposed, and then put a ring on her hand. It was so very sweet.  Anyway, I’m here with the check-in and a few other bits and pieces. Sooooo, on with the show.

Goals.

One: Write something at least five times or more each week.

I’m good here.

Two: Write a minimum of 2500 on my WIP words each week.

I beat that this week and actually feel like I’m catching up a bit. Yeaaa me!

Three: Publish at least six new novels in 2012.

Still basking in the glow of the last one, but have started working on the cover for the Tigress story. Actually, the truth is, Justin has started work on the cover, I’m cheering him on. J

Four: Read and review six or more first novels by new authors. (I don’t give bad reviews, so don’t panic, I’m friendly, honest. J

Five: do more to be supportive of new and struggling writers.

Something very strange happened here and I would love a bit of feedback on this one. I located and bought five novels from five different writers. I looked for folks with their first novel up or only a few. Two of the five were free, but I paid for the others. No problems here.

This is where it got a bit strange. I contacted the authors, told them I had their book, promised to Tweet, blog, and review each book as soon as I managed to read it. I also let them know I had followed them on twitter. I have had two responses so far. Two polite, thanks I hope you enjoy, responses, but, and here’s the kicker, neither followed me back on Twitter or has followed my blog.

I’m feeling a bit strange about this. I would have thought a follow on Twitter would not be too much to expect? Every other author I have contacted in this way has done so.  Anyway, it has put me off a bit.

Six: Publish a small collection of erotic short stories. Hey, I’ve been around for over sixty years, and this one is on my bucket list. I will make it happen in 2012.

Working, but the research is demanding. :)
