Waiting on Wednesday

Here we are at Wednesday already. Wow, where has the week gone? Anyway, I can tell you where my morning went. It went to a line of waiting impatient patients.

I went in to the local health center to get my blood drawn for my check-up. Yep, one glance at the waiting room told me that wasn’t going to be a quick trip. An hour later and a few chapters read I got my turn. Wow, it turned out to be a quick trip after all, or so I thought.

Work and Play

Hi folks, here we are again at the end of one week and the beginning of another. This week had its share of distractions, but it was a great success none the less.  It can’t be all work, however.

Old Author

Hi folks, it’s Friday. This is the day I like to introduce a new author to you, but I didn’t find any volunteers this week so I’m going to tell you what’s up with an old author. Me.

It’s been a while since I put out a new book, but that is about to end. I have several almost ready for publication this winter and coming in the spring. First up will be Assassin of Nova, the second book in the sci-fi Nova Series. Book three is well in the works and will be out later this Spring.

Assassin of Nova picks up the tale of the rebuilding of Nova Prime after the extermination of her people. The driving force behind this resurrection is the Black Witch, Lady Arlessa. We first meet her in the book, Novan Witch, when she is a fugitive and running for her life. Here’s a quick teaser.

Lessa sat with her head down, focused on the task at hand. It would take most of her reserves, but she saw no other way. “Lessa, this is foolish,” whispered the darkness in her mind, “Just leave, and forget the woman and children. Their fate was sealed before you arrived. There is no need to interfere. This could get you killed, then where will you be?”

“Free at last,” she replied as she thrust aside the voice of doom and concentrated. She was very still for several hours, then, exhausted, she fell on her side drawing deep ragged breaths. As she’d begun her meditation, everyone on the ship had slowly drifted off to sleep. Now they awakened with a start as the first blow struck the ship.

Wednesday on the Fly

Today was a day on the fly, but a successful day nonetheless. Last night we had a dump of snow, and since I planned a trip to town today, I know what was in the works. I rolled out early to see this sort of thing.

Hi folks, it has been a bit busy around here, but that is quite typical of winter. Somehow the dang snow removal always seems to eat up time I would rather use for something else. Ah well, it’s a pretty good exercise program.

Back on Track

Hi folks, well as crazy as things have been, I feel like I’m getting back on track again. The clean-up from the storm has been completed and we had fun doing it. Here’s some of the evidence and Charis playing with the dogs in the snow.

Power Failure and an Old Time Writer

The time is 3:30 a.m., Saturday morning, and I am writing this by the light of a flickering candle. We had a savage winter storm that knocked out our electricity some time ago. Fortunately, the wood burning stove we installed last autumn is doing its job wonderfully. The house is toasty warm and we have had hot food. Life is good.

Wild Week

It has been a wild week, in that I didn’t seem to get much done. Well, not a lot of writing anyway. Much of the week was spent chasing one errand after another. Far too much time was spent here,

Old Christmas Day

January 6^th is Old Christmas Day here in Newfoundland. At our house we like to keep the season going so we honor Old Christmas Day. Today we had a gathering of close friends and family. There was food, laughter, and fun for all. Having Charis Maloy with us brought another dimension to the festivities.
